Beer, golf mix for businessman
Updated: Jun 19, 2019
Not so long ago, as co-owner of a multimillion-dollar golf clothing company, Geoff Tait was driving fancy cars, hanging out with Arnold Palmer, partying with Kanye West, Jay Z and John Legend and playing some of the best golf courses in North America — places like Bay Hill, Sawgrass and Doral.
That’s long gone, but Tait says he’s never been happier.
"I lost a business and I was heartbroken and sick," said Tait, who lives in Toronto’s Beaches area. "You get Quagmire up to a $3-$4 million company, you’re driving a BMW, life is good. All of a sudden, you’re on unemployment and you feel like (crap). I was sitting on my porch and this popped into my head."
"This" would be a beer, Triple Bogey, which a bit more than a year after it was introduced has already won an Ontario Brewing gold medal and has seen its sales skyrocket. No BMW, no chilling with megacelebrities, but Tait, who’s working 16-hour days, has found happiness in beer.
